ARTS

Arts Lending Program

Join our network of artists and craftspeople.
Feature your work in one of our listings and let it be experienced the way it’s meant to be—inside a thoughtfully designed space.

As our designs have gained attention, we realized we could use this platform to spotlight local artists and connect their work with people who are actively looking—and often ready to buy. With high-visibility exposure both in-person (showings) and online (photos, marketing, socials), your art reaches an engaged audience.

We consistently surprised by how many prospective buyers ask to purchase pieces they fall in love with, making this a simple, mutually beneficial partnership: you gain real-world exposure and sales potential, and we keep our designs fresh, original and rooted in community.

FAQ

Have questions?

Here's some answers.
Wait, so what exactly is the Arts Lending Program?

It's a trade or "exchange" program that is designed to be mutually beneficial. We get TONS of visibility on our listings and we are consistently surprised at how many people ask to buy the pieces in our designs. While we can't sell our stuff (because we need it), we can sell your stuff if that's your goal!

Joining the program means, whenever we can, we'll borrow pieces you'd like to sell for our home stage and do our best to sell it on your behalf.

Does it cost to join?

No. It's a simple partnership where we both win.  You get a ton of visibility on your work you're looking to sell and connection from hot leads. In exchange, we get to feature your pieces without having to buy & store more inventory. This keeps our overhead low and our designs fresh and local.

Do you pay me for using my work?

Also no.

But we've single-handedly catapulted some of our partners' businesses and now we're doing that with even more intention.

How do I join as an artist or creator?

Just send us an email of introduction with information about what you're doing, where you're based, and some of your work! Local creators in the Seattle - Portland area are preferred.

What qualifies as "art"?

Anything really that could go in a home stage.  We obsess the details. So while unique furniture and furnishings are perfect, so is wall art, ceramics and other sculptural or functional pieces. We love to get creative, so if in doubt, reach out!

Cool, so then what does it mean to join the Trades Professional Network?

It means you go onto our list of potential trades partners and when we have projects that align with your skills, we'll tap you to see if you're available. Our goal is to have enough partners that we can scale our business beyond what our tiny team can do today while helping our community in the trades.

What qualifies as a "trade"?

Painters, surface refinishers, renovators with experience in cabinetry, countertops, basic plumbing and bath, minor electrical, floor installation, etc. Landscapers, cleaners, pressure washers, tree pruners, and even just muscles to move things are all potential partners.

How many years of experience do you require?

We're actually more interested in the quality of your work and your follow through on commitments. We find that how much you care about the work you're doing is a lot more valuable that how many years you've been doing it.

We would love nothing more than to play a role helping early-career talent build up a sustainable business in their craft.

Why would I work with Midwinter?

While Angie and Thumbtack and Task Rabbit are...options, we have a steady pipeline of work and a robust network in Seattle's real estate industry with plans to expand into Portland. If you want work that is meaningful and connected through community instead of an app, we might be for you.

So if you're in the trades and:
a) would like to have more projects with, perhaps some creative freedom
b) not interested in business development, marketing or project management
c) are looking to build up your own business/portfolio
d) find pride in your work and want people to see it and/or
e) want to be better integrated into your local community...
